Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Real Madrid centre-forward Karim Benzema.
The 30-year-old forward has won two La Liga trophies and lifted the Champions League on three seasons since joining the Los Blancos back in 2009. However, the French forward is being linked with an exit from the Santiago Bernabeu.
But while Benzema has struggled this term, only managing nine goals in all competitions, Zinedine Zidane remains committed to keeping hold of his fellow Frenchman.
According to El Confidencial, Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has informed his team that the striker remains an important part of the furniture at the club – and the Los Blancos superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has echoed that sentiment.
It’s reported that the both Borussia Dortmund and Arsenal have been ‘knocking on the door’ of Benzema’s agent ahead of the potential move.
The report states that Benzema’s agent is well aware of Arsenal’s interest after a number of approaches from Arsene Wenger down the years.
Benzema has been contracted with the Los Blancos until 2021, and he has a €1bn release clause in his contract.
Asked if he was concerned about France international forward form back in February, Zidane said to beIN SPORTS: ‘No, I’m not worried.
‘It is the situation we have now. We would like him to score.
The other day against Betis he scored. Here he could not, but he has done many good things for everyone else.
‘In the end we know that if we do things right we can get good things.’
