According to the latest reports, Arsenal could get a fresh deal wrapped up for central midfielder Aaron Ramsey shortly.
Charles Watts informed Football.London that sources close to him say things are going well in negotiations to extend the 27-year-old star’s contract, even if club and Welshman haven’t reached a final agreement at this stage.
“Regarding Ramsey, there is still no agreement,” Charles said.
“But I did hear from someone I trust last week that things were moving in the right direction and that he thought a new deal was not far away – which is a positive. I think he will eventually sign.”
Aaron is Arsenal’s current longest-serving star having first arrived in 2008.
The midfielder has entered the final year of his current contract and would depart from the club for free next summer should he fail to pen a fresh deal.
Aaron was left out of the Arsenal starting eleven at Stamford Bridge the previous month. And consequently, there were suggestions he was stalling on a fresh deal to evaluate his exit variants.
However, after making a return to the starting XI in Arsenal 3-2 victory against Cardiff, the former Bluebird appears on track to extend his stay at the Emirates Stadium.
