The London giants are in pole position to sign Evan N’Dicka from Eintracht Frankfurt this summer transfer window. U21 France international is also a target for Arsenal’s London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
Evan joined the Die Adler from AJ Auxerre in the summer of 2018 and has since gone on to establish himself as a crucial member of the Bundesliga outfit’s squad. In his very first season with the Eagles, N’Dicka was nominated for the Rookie of the Season award.
Since then, the 21-year-old defender has continued to grow in stature and in the current campaign, he has impressed with his displays at the defence, with Bundesliga giants vying for a top-four finish.
After overcoming some injury issues early into the campaign, the French defender has gone on to feature 12 times in all tournaments. Evan’s progress has duly been noted as well, with Gunners and Spurs interested in him.
The winter transfer window saw Gunners trim their squad, with back-line, in particular, one of the areas that were addressed. Shkodran Mustafi ended up joining Schalke 04 while Sokratis had his contract being terminated before he joined Olympiacos.
In addition, William Saliba was loaned out to OGC Nice as well, and his future at Arsenal is far from certain. Tottenham, on the other hand, are in immediate need of a centre-back.
While the Spanish manager does have the likes of Rob Holding, Gabriel Magalhaes, David Luiz and Pablo Mari at his disposal in addition to Calum Chambers, it is important to note that David Luiz is on the wrong side of 30, meaning Gunners could do with a new long-term central defensive solution.
