Arsenal are scouting Romanian wonderkid Ianis Stoica but senior figures at his club FCSB are trying to fend off the Gunners’ interest the 18-year-old prodigy.

FCSB – the outfit formerly known as Steaua Bucharest – have revealed that Arsenal scouts have been keeping a close eye on Romania under-21 attacker Stoica for two months.

But chairman Gigi Becali has warned the Premier League side that Stoica, who made his professional debut aged 14 and has netted six times in 14 games thus far this season, is too young to switch to England.

‘It is good that Arsenal are monitoring Ianis, but there is no point as he is not for sale,’ Gigi told ProSport.

‘He could be in a year or two, but not yet. He is technically skilled, physically strong and very smart. To look at him, you’d think he is 23 years old, not 18.’

Ianis started his career in the youth sector of Petrolul Ploiesti but when the club folded five years ago, he left for a brief spell with German outfit Freiburg before returning to his home city to sign for FCSB.

Stoica was just 14 when he made his first-team debut in a Romanian Cup tie four years ago, the youngest player to feature in a competitive game for the club and also netted in the game.

After four loan stints, mainly in Romania’s second tier, Stoica has become a regular for Ros-albastrii this season and has become a regular goalscorer, scoring six times and claiming two assists.
