Arsenal keen on to strengthen left-back position in the summer

Arsenal will reportedly target an up-and-coming left-back during the summer transfer window.

The North London club only recognised player in that position is Scottish full-back, Kieran Tierney who has been out with a calf problem recently, and Mikel Arteta’s being forced to play Cedric Soares and Saka at that position.

Arsenal allowed Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Sead Kolasinac to depart from the club on loan during the winter  transfer window.

According to The Athletic, the Gunners are aware that they need to strengthen their options at the left-back, and they are committed to bringing in a new full-back in that position before the 2021-22 season gets underway.

The report claims that any signing would not displace Kieran Tierney as first-choice, so the team are hoping to welcome a highly-rated starlet to North London rather than an established defender who would command regular starts.

Cedric has put in a number of solid displays at the left-back however, was at fault for Ollie Watkins’s winner against Aston Villa on Saturday, although the Gunners supposedly do not expect Tierney to be out for much longer and he could start against Leeds United this weekend.

Arsenal currently sit 10th in the Premier League table 9 points separating them from the fourth placed Liverpool.
