Arsenal have reportedly asked La Liga giants Real Madrid whether they would like to secure the services of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
With just over a year remaining on his current deal at the Emirates Stadium, Aubameyang has been strongly linked with an exit from the North London club during the next transfer window.
Although Mikel Arteta’s side would like the Gabon international to sign a new long-term contract and remain at the Emirates Stadium, there is believed to be an acceptance that the 30-year-old will not extend his contract if the club do not qualify for Champions League next season.
While Aubameyang has been rumoured with a switch to Man Utd and Barcelona, Diario Madridista reports that Real Madrid have been offered the chance to begin negotiations with the London giants over the future of Gabon international forward.
The report suggests that the Gunners would prefer to sell to a Spanish side than allowing their Premier League rivals Man Utd luring him at Old Trafford.
Aubameyang has managed to found back of the net 61 times from 97 games in all competitions, which includes 45 goals in the Premier League.
Arsenal could also ask Real Madrid to involve Dani Ceballos in the deal as Arteta is believed to be keen on to keep his compatriot at Emirates Stadium after his loan spell expires.
