Arsenal on alert: French defensive rock considers exit from La Liga giants

Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti has reportedly made it clear that he is not interested in departing from Camp Nou during the summer transfer window.

The 26-year-old’s future with the Catalan club has been the subject of much speculation in recent months, with Arsenal, Everton and West Ham United all linked with a potential move.

The France international centre-back has only played 13 La Liga games during the 2019-20 season as he struggled again with injury, while he is also behind Gerrard Pique and Clement Lenglet in the pecking order at the club.

World-cup winning defender still has little under three years left to his current deal at Camp Nou, though, and according to Sport, he is not interested to make a departure in the summer.

The report suggests that the 2018 World Cup winner is convinced that he can still regain his place in the starting XI, having been a vital player during his first two seasons at the club.

Spanish giants will resume their Champions League season on August 8, facing Napoli in the second leg of their last-16 tie.

Arsenal are unable to pay much this summer and Umtiti could be available around £30m following his contract situation and players desire to leave the club.
