Premier League giants Arsenal are reportedly in the market for a box-to-box midfielder and a new centre-back before the end of the January transfer window.
Gunners newly appointed head-coach Mikel Arteta has revealed that he is not expecting any major signings in January, although reports have claimed that the club could look at potential loan deals rather making permanent addition this winter.
The Telegraph reports that a new playmaker and defender are at the top of the Gunners wishlist as Arteta looks to strengthen his team following a poor first half of the campaign.
The Gunners are particularly short at the defensive end following a long-term injury to Calum Chambers, while Konstantinos Mavropanos has made a switch loan move to Numberg and Shkodran Mustafi are believed to be free to depart from the club this month
The North London club spent heavily during the summer, however, mainly on attacking talent including club-record signing Nicolas Pepe.
The knock-on effect is that they do not have as much to invest in the squad this month, however, they have still been rumoured with the likes of Jean-Clair Todibo, Samuel Umtiti, Jerome Boateng and Boubakary Soumare.
Arsenal have been linked with creative midfielders like Jack Grealish, James Maddison and AC Milan star Hakan Chalhanoglu.
