Arsenal plotting move for €180,000 a-week La Liga midfielder

Arsenal are reportedly prepared to rival Tottenham and Chelsea for the services of Barcelona playmaker Miralem Pjanic.

With Granit Xhaka could be in the line next to depart from the Emirates Stadium after Matteo Guendouzi, Martin Odegaard and Dani Ceballos, Mikel Arteta is believed to be keen on strengthening his midfield area before the new season gets underway, however, Chelsea have been linked with the signing of former Juventus man since the last month.

The Gunners are believed to have reignited their interest in Lyon’s Houssem Aouar, however, they will supposedly have to offload another midfielder before making move for the Frenchman.

Pjanic could be a more realistic target given his struggles at the Catalan giants, and Sport reports that Arsenal are ready to battle with Chelsea and Tottenham for the 31-year-old’s services.

Bosnia and Herzegovina international midfielder has arrived at Camp Nou from Juventus in a swap deal which saw Arthur head in the opposite direction, however, he was only handed six La Liga starts in the 2020-21 campaign and is believed to head elsewhere this summer.

The veteran midfielder is not due to become a free agent until 2024, however, Barca reportedly cannot register their new signings until they do away with more players having exceeded the La Liga salary cap.
