Arsenal are reportedly planning to make £25m move for Borussia Dortmund centre-back Manuel Akanji.
The North London club are expected to be in the market for a new defender during the summer transfer window despite the fact that William Saliba is due to join Mikel Arteta’s side at the club following a loan spell from Ligue 1 outfits, Saint-Etienne.
Barcelona’s centre-back Samuel Umtiti continues to be rumoured with Mikel Arteta’s side, however, according to FussballTransfers, the London giants are putting together a £25m deal for Akanji.
The report suggests that the Gunners held talks with BVB in the winter transfer window over a potential summer deal, and the 24-year-old centre-back could now be heading for the Gunners in time for the 2020-21 season.
Akanji, who has joined Dortmund from Basel back in January 2018, has played 34 games for Lucien Favre’s side during the 2019-20 season, including 24 appearences in the Germany top-tier.
The Switzerland international centre-back has also played the full 90 minutes as Dortmund recorded a 4-0 victory over Schalke 04 after their return to Bundesliga action last weekend.
Dortmund have been mentioned in transfer rumours too much lately with Jadon Sancho and Halland both have been rumoured with a switch to Manchester United and Real Madrid.
