Premier League giants Arsenal are willing to match Athletic Bilbao’s £26m asking price for star defender Unai Nunez, according to the reports.
The one-cap Spain international’s stunning displays at the back have already seen him rumoured with a switch to top European teams Man City and Bayern Munich in recent months.
Spanish daily La Razon reports that the Gunners are also now in the running for the 23-year-old defender and are prepared to trigger his release clause and lure him with such price would be an absolute bargain.
Nunez has spent his entire career at Athletic, playing 66 first-team games for the Basque outfit in total.
Midfield pair Marco Roca and Carlos Soler who play their trade for Espanyol and Valencia respectively, are also rumoured to be among Mikel Arteta’s transfer targets this summer.
Meanwhile, Arsenal and Chelsea reportedly hold an interest in signing of Bayern Munich centre-back Jerome Boateng.
With both London giants having been less than impressive at the back this campaign, defensive additions are expected to be made when the transfer window will be re-opened in the summer.
According to FootMercato, Arsenal and Chelsea have identified Germany world-cup winning defender, Boateng as a potential target.
Despite playing only 21 games in the German top-tier and Champions League this campaign, the 31-year-old centre-back has previously spoken about taking on a new challenge and Premier League though to be his favoured destination.
