Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal enjoyed a hectic summer transfer market, bringing in six different players.
The Gunners splashed more than £140 million on Aaron Ramsdale, Nuno Tavares, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Ben White, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Martin Odegaard.
Senior member Edu’s transfer policy was clear – sell fringe players whilst adding youngsters to the mix, something that was achieved considering all six of their aforementioned players were 23-years-old or under.
There is another star that fits these criteria that has constantly been mentioned with a move to north London in the last few transfer markets in the form of Lyon’s Houssem Aouar.
The 23-year-old was targeted by the Gunners in the summer transfer window of 2020 but a switch failed to materialise and his name continued to be mentioned as a possible target over the course of the most recent transfer market, although, he eventually stayed at Les Gones.
Now, Spanish media outlet Fichajes claim that Arsenal are still keen on bringing him to the Emirates Stadium and could attempt to snap Houssem up again next summer.
The Frenchman will have just one year left on his deal with Peter Bosz’s side by then, meaning Arsenal could have the chance to get Aouar on the cheap.
