Arsenal refusing to loan out £100,000 a-week forward in January despite exit talks

Arsenal head-coach Mikel Arteta is not reportedly not considering the possibility of allowing Ivory Coast international winger Nicolas Pepe to depart from the club on loan during the winter transfer window.

The 25-year-old forward has largely struggled for the North London club since arriving from Lille back in August 2019, managing to score only six goals and provide six assists in 39 Premier League games.

Former Lille’s forward was handed a start against Leeds United on Sunday, however, was sent off from the pitch in the second half of the goalless draw after putting his head towards Ezgjan Alioski.

According to The Times, Mikel Arteta is planning on sitting down with the Ivorian forward to discuss his form and attitude, however, there are currently no plans for the 25-year-old forward to leave on a short-term basis at the start of 2021.

The report suggests that the Gunners domestic and European commitments mean that the team are not prepared to sanction an exit in the middle of the season.

Nicolas Pepe, who has recently apologised for his conduct against Leeds United has a deal at the Emirates Stadium until the end of the 2023-24 campaign.
