Arsenal set to miss out signing of 22-year-old Ligue 1 defender
Lille centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes has revealed that he would be open to make the switch to Premier League this summer.
The 22-year-old defender is believed to be a transfer target for Arsenal and Chelsea while Everton and Tottenham have also been credited with an interest.
A recent report suggested that Arsenal had launched a €30m (£27m) offer for the South American defender, and Gabriel has dropped a hint that he is open to an idea to play in the Premier League.
“It is gratifying because there are a lot of teams talking about me,” Gabriel told L’Equipe. “I want to go as high as possible, I came to Europe for that. England or Italy? Both are good championships.
“I speak a lot to Luis Campos (Lille’s director of football) to see where it is best for me because he has a lot of experience. I also speak with my agents, with Gerard Lopez, with Jose Fonte.
“Gennaro Gattuso (Napoli’s manager) likes me a lot? I don’t know, we haven’t talked. On the internet, on social networks, there are a lot of things coming out. I do not know what is true. I see every day, ‘ah Gabriel goes there, then there’.”
The South American defender could have already played his last game for French outfits as the 2019-20 Ligue 1 campaign has been cancelled following the coronavirus pandemic and PSG have been crowned as the champions.
Agent of Brazilian midfielder could be forced to sign for Arsenal this summer
The agent of Barcelona playmaker Philippe Coutinho is reportedly keen for his client to snub interest from Chelsea and sign for Arsenal.
Coutinho is currently on loan at German champions Bayern Munich, however, the former Liverpool star is due to return to Camp Nou on July 1.
The Catalan club are allegedly keen to move the Brazil international playmaker on once again before the start of next campaign, and a host of teams, including Manchester United, Tottenham and Chelsea, have been credited with strong interest.
However, according to The Mirror, Coutinho’s agent Kia Joorabchian keen on to see his client wearing Arsenal jersey.
The 28-year-old playmaker has largely struggled to make his mark with the Catalan giants since joining them from Liverpool back in January 2018.
The Brazilian midfielder has been in relatively strong form for Bayern Munich during the current season, though, founding back of the net nine times and providing eight assists in 32 games in all competitions.
Barcelona another midfielder Arthur has been on the verge to depart from Nou Camp as the reports from Italy claim that Juventus agreed to pay £80m for the Brazilian playmaker.
Arthur’s possible transfer to Juve could help Coutinho to compete for starting role at Barcelona next season if he fails to agree and join another top team this summer.
Juventus plays down talks with Arsenal over French midfielder’s transfer
Juventus chief football officer Fabio Paratici has rubbished rumours that Adrien Rabiot could depart from the club during the summer transfer window despite interest from Arsenal and Man Utd.
The 25-year-old has only joined the Old Lady last summer, but Premier League giants are among the team to be credited with an interest in Frenchman’s services over the last few weeks.
Rabiot has only started 13 Serie A games for Serie A champions, during the 2019-20 season, while he is yet to assist or score any goal for Maurizio Sarri’s team.
However, Paratici has claimed that the Frenchman is “very important” for the team and will be a part of their “future”, ruling out his exit from the Allianz Stadium.
“Let’s not forget that Rabiot is in his first year in Italy, and the first year is always special,” Paratici told Sky Sport Italia.
“At the start of the season, we could see the same doubts over Matthijs de Ligt, who happened to be the best defender in the Champions League (with Ajax last season) at the age of 19. Now I see there is a different opinion of him.
“Rabiot also arrived from PSG after six months of inactivity. He had to catch up with his physical condition. That said, he is a great player, someone who is very important for Juventus today and will be for the future.”
Rabiot’s current deal in Turin is set to expire until the end of the 2022-23 season.
