Arsenal determined to agree £70m double deal this week
Arsenal are reportedly hopeful of finalising a double £70m swoop for Gabriel Jesus and Lisandro Martinez next week.
The North London giants have been rather quiet in the summer transfer window so far and have only announced one new arrival, with Marquinhos joining from Sao Paulo for a £3m fee.
A deal for Portuguese giants, Porto’s Fabio Vieira has been agreed, though, and the Gunners could very well confirm the 22-year-old’s signing early next week alongside Matt Turner after he finalised his medical and signed terms on a five-year contract.
Eddie Nketiah and Mohamed Elneny have both committed themselves to new deals, while French forward Alexandre Lacazette left on a free transfer to rejoin Ligue 1 giants, Lyon, and Mikel Arteta should oversee some more new arrivals ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.
According to the Daily Mail, the North London team could end up £70m worse off next week as they hope to finalise deals for Ajax centre-back Martinez and Manchester City centre-forward Jesus.
The report adds that the Gunners have already seen a £35m bid for Brazilian forward, turned down by the Premier League champions, who are instead holding firm on their £50m price tag for the 25-year-old.
However, the Gunners are still optimistic that they can drive the price down, with Jesus out of deal in 2023 and facing greater competition from Julian Alvarez and Erling Braut Haaland.
Chelsea, Tottenham and Juventus have also been credited with an interest in Jesus, though, and the Gunners do not have the advantage of Champions League football in negotiations.
Jesus ended the 2021-22 campaign with 13 goals and 12 assists to his name from 41 games in all competitions and won his fourth Premier League trophy after providing 17 direct contributions in 28 top-flight games.
Arsenal keen on to sign €18m-rated Serie A star
Federico Dimarco is attracting the interest of Arsenal, as the Inter Milan defender has emerged as a transfer target for the Gunners. The Spanish manager has been widening his search for a new left-back to compete for different positions as Arsenal ponder an approach for the 24-year-old defender.
Dimarco finally has a campaign under his belt in which he can measure his progress at San Siro. For years since Federico was promoted from the youth sides, the defender has been sent on numerous loans. Finally, under Inzaghi has the left-back gotten an opportunity, and he has flourished.
Despite making some important games in the 2021/22 campaign, he is yet to cement his position in the team, as the Nerazzurri narrowly lost out their Serie A crown to rivals Milan. Out of his 32 matches in the league, just 13 were starts, which shows there may not be enough trust in him to become the first choice.
Moreover, the winter arrival of Gosens made matters difficult for the Italian defender to lock a starting berth in the side chasing the title. However, Simone Inzaghi considers him a top-notch squad footballer, as the coach selected the player to play as a left-sided centre-back in numerous matches in the season.
Arsenal have strong players in both positions, and the Italian is not expected to dislodge either Tierney or Gabriel from their respective roles.
Eredivisie clubs on the verge to agree deal for Arsenal promising pair
Arsenal starlet Mika Biereth and Omar Rekik are on the brink of finalising loan switch to the Eredivisie for the 2022-23 campaign, according to a report.
Nineteen-year-old forward Biereth arrived at the Emirates Stadium from Fulham’s academy last summer and enjoyed a tough season at Under-23 level under Kevin Betsy.
Biereth ended his first season at Emirates Stadium founding back of the net 12 time and provided five assists in 26 appearances for the young Gunners, including 11 goals in 21 Premier League 2 matches.
The Denmark Under-19 came up with a hat-trick against the Blues and a brace against the Citizens in league action, while also captaining the side in their final three games of the season.
First-team head-coach Mikel Arteta did not hand Biereth his first-team debut last season, however, he made the bench in the Premier League, FA Cup and EFL Cup.
Instead of integrating Biereth into the first team with Europa League football to come next year, The Athletic claims that the teenager is instead following to join RKC Waalwijk on a temporary deal.
The report claims that Biereth could then be loaned out to an English team in the 2023-24 campaign, and he is set to be joined in the Netherlands for the next 12 months by Rekik.
The 20-year-old – a previous prospect of Feyenoord, Manchester City, Marseille, PSV and Hertha Berlin’s youth academies – signed for the North London giants in a £540,000 deal in January 2021.
Rekik also featured regularly for Betsy’s side in 2021-22 with 16 games in all competitions – 14 of which came in the Premier League 2 – and he made a pair of outings in the EFL Trophy.
