Premier League giants Arsenal are reportedly planning to open contract talks with Matteo Guendouzi.

The 20-year-old has joined the North London club from Lorient during the summer of 2018 and has played 77 games for the London team in all competitions, including 29 appearences this season.

Guendouzi’s contract at the Emirates Stadium will run until the summer of 2022, however, according to football.london, the Gunners want to hand the midfielder new improved contract to his current £40,000 a-week salary.

The report suggests that talks over an extension are yet to take place, however, discussions are likely to be held before the start of the news season.

The Gunners are allegedly keen to hand Guendouzi a new contract amid suggestions that Paris Saint-Germain are keeping tabs on his signature despite failing to lure him ahead of Arsenal.

The midfielder has contributed two assists in 21 Premier League games this campaign.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are reportedly attempting to tie talented forward Bukayo Saka to a new long-term deal with Liverpool and Manchester United both keeping tabs on the 18-year-old’s form.

Saka’s current contract will expire at the end of next campaign, and according to the Daily Mail, the Gunners are preparing to hand the teenager fresh new deal due to the interest in his services.

Spanish playmaker reveals the reason why he signed for Arsenal last summer

Spanish playmaker Dani Ceballos has revealed he snubbed a move to Liverpool during the summer transfer window and joined Arsenal.

The Real Madrid playmaker has endured a frustrating time at North London club and reportedly tried to cut his loan spell during the winter transfer window, only for the Gunners to block his efforts to depart from the club.

Spain international midfielder was drawn to the Emirates Stadium by now sacked coach Unai Emery and the Spaniard revealed, why he chose to turn down a switch to Anfield.

He told Marca: ‘I was proud to have a club like Liverpool after me, but I chose Arsenal because of Unai Emery and how he was with me.

‘Right now, I wouldn’t fit in at Liverpool very well. Unai was key to me being at Arsenal.

‘I went to play at a club like Arsenal because, apart from the fact that it’s a massive club, Unai practically came to my house to tell me that he loved me as a player, that he’s been in love with me since I played for Betis.’

‘The confidence of a coach is key to giving your best performance. Unai told me that I would be important with him at Arsenal and I didn’t have any doubts about going there.’

Spanish playmaker is yet to make a single appearance in the Premier League under Mikel Arteta, however, the 23-year-old is keen to play more after the forward break.

‘I have never had a quiet transfer market, neither in summer nor winter,’ Ceballos said.

‘It is a sign that you do things fairly well so that there are teams interested in you.

‘But it is also true that I like stability at a club and I decided to stay at Arsenal because they signed me and I want to restore trust because I think it is time to step forward.

‘It seems silly, but Arsenal fans have a song dedicated to me. There are only three or four players on the team who have a song and they have been there for many years.

‘I feel very loved every time I play at the Emirates.’

Arsenal eyeing a move for 25-year-old Bayern Munich midfielder

Bayern Munich midfield star Corentin Tolisso has reportedly emerged as a surprise transfer target for Arsenal and Machester United.

Tolisso has started only nine games in the Bundesliga and Champions League this campaign, with a further six outings coming from the Bench.

With the French midfielder having failed to secure regular first-team minutes at the Allianz Arena since 2017, Bild reports that the Bavarians are ready to cash in on the 25-year-old midfielder.

The report claims that the German heavyweights want to raise transfer funds to increase their chances of securing the services of Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen.

Arsenal and Manchester United could both be in the market for new players especially midfielders as they are keen on to strengthen midfield area before the start of the new 2020/21 season.

While the Red Devils may view Tolisson as a replacement for aged Nemanja Matic, the Gunners’ head-coach, Mikel Arteta may wish to bring in more competition for Lucas Torreira, Granit Xhaka, and Matteo Guendouzi respectively.

Meanwhile, Premier League giants also eyeing a move for Serie A forward Dries Mertens who has been tipped to depart from Napoli after the end of the current season and Premier League seems to be his favoured destination for the 2020/21 campaign.
