Arsenal set to miss out signing of 22-year-old French midfielder

Thomas Partey and Houssem Aouar were the two players strongly linked with a move to Arsenal in the last summer transfer market.

The north Londoners were successful in taking Thomas from Atletico Madrid on deadline day, while the Frenchman ended up staying at Lyon.

L’Equipe explained last year the 22-year-old was left frustrated with the north London side’s ‘too timid’ attempt to acquire his services.

In spite of last summer’s failure, it was reported the Gunners are still in the picture for the midfield ace. Juventus, who were named as a buyer before the start of the season, are still said to be interested in the midfielder.

Italian market expert and journalist Luca Momblano has provided a new update on this case during JB Live’s program, Boom Boom Mercato, relayed by website Calciomercato.it.

He claims Houssem will not be moving to the Premier League and only wants to sign for the Serie A side.

“Paratici has everything in his hand: the agreement has been made with the player for 7-8 months,” Luca said.

“The player bounced Arsenal after a long courtship in September, trusting that the move to Juventus could still be evaluated.”

“There is a promise from [Lyon president Jean-Michel] Aulas to Aouar, in the wake of that made to Depay to let him leave for free, to soften the position regarding requests for the fee.”

Les Gones academy graduate has six goals and four assists in 26 games in all competitions for his side this season.

Arsenal eyeing move for 21-year-old Fiorentina forward

Arsenal have entered the fray to sign Fiorentina forward Dusan Vlahovic, who is also on the radars of La Liga giants Real Madrid, according to a recent report from Italian publication Calciomercato.

So far, Dusan has made 74 appearances for La Viola, scoring 20 goals and setting up four more.

The young attacker has been in impressive form in the 2020/21 season, bagging 12 goals in 27 Serie A games, along with a couple of assists as well. Dusan also has two goals in six matches for the Serbian national team.

Vlahovic’s rise to prominence with his side and Serbia has now seen him attract admirers in plenty, with the likes of Atletico Madrid, AC Milan, AS Roma, RB Leipzig all showing interest, with the north London heavyweights also among the list of his suitors.

Arsenal could be in need of strengthening their attacking unit in the summer with reports having stated that Mikel Arteta is ready to axe both Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette at the end of the season.

In addition, taking into consideration striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s form this term, Arsenal could benefit from signing a new striker this term.

Thus, Dusan, given his age and potential, can be a viable option for the English club to consider.

Arsenal ready to listen offers for £250,000 a-week star

Arsenal are ready to listen to offers for the Gabon international Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer, Football Insider has learned.

The Premier League side handed their talismanic goalscorer a mega-money deal last September to seemingly resolve doubts over his future.

An Emirates Stadium source has told Football Insider that Arsenal will let Aubameyang go for the right price as the club look to raise cash for their summer business.

The Gunners captain is the top earner on a contract worth more than £300,000 per week that runs until the summer of 2023.

But his form has been mixed this campaign and there is a feeling among the club’s managers that he has peaked.

Pierre-Emerick has also been in the spotlight for his poor time keeping after being dropped for turning up late for the match against Tottenham.

But the club face a big battle finding a buyer for their star man, who turns 32 in the summer and has a mega contract running until June 2023.

Arsenal will not have the cash to spend big in the summer market as they face the prospect of no European football next campaign.

He represents a saleable asset who can raise funds and ease pressure on the wage bill, as well as a star who is not as important as he once was.

Pierre-Emerick finished as the club’s top goalscorer in each of his two full terms in north London, sharing the PL golden boot with Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah back in 2019.
