Arsenal tried to finalise transfer of 25-year-old star on the deadline day of January transfer window

Arsenal look set to miss out on landing Yannick Carrasco or Ivan Perisic though are hopeful of striking a last-minute deal for PSG star Christopher Nkunku on what promises to be a frantic deadline day, the latest reports say.

The north London giants appear to have wrapped up a deal for Spanish midfielder Denis Suarez – with Barcelona prematurely announcing his loan switch only to delete the statement – though Spanish manager Unai Emery wants a central midfielder to accompany the attacker.

PSG midfielder Nkunku has been pinpointed as that man and, according to BBC Sport, they will pour their attempts into getting a deal over the line before the market closes.

Deals for Ivan Perisic and Yannick Carrasco appear to be off, however, with Dalian Yifang rejecting the Gunners’ offer and Inter Milan unwilling to let their Croatian star leave without a compulsory obligation to buy.

But negotiations with the Parisians’ management over Christopher Nkunku are continuing, with the club likely to pay a loan sum of around £1 million and have the option to buy the French star if he impresses.
