Arsenal urged to cool interest in signing of 24-year-old Serie A forward

Kevin Campbell has told his former club Arsenal not to land Roma’s Tammy Abraham, claiming the forward is not worth the £67 million sum quoted.

Before he quit Chelsea for Italy in 2021, the Gunners were interested in a deal for the Englishman but could not agree on a fee with their city rivals.

This term, the 24-year-old star has been a revelation for I Giallorossi, scoring 24 goals for them in all competitions, and head coach Mikel Arteta is said to be readying another attempt to snap him up this summer.

However, Kevin thinks he will cost the Emirates Stadium outfit too much money and believes the Spaniard should look elsewhere for a number nine.

Speaking to Football Insider, Campbell said: ‘That’s a lot of money. I don’t think he’s worth that much. Tammy Abraham is a very good player but not at that price.

I think the price will prove to be the sticking point for Arsenal. If that is the case I’m sure the club will look at someone else.

‘Last summer I would have gone and got him. He’s got 25-odd goals in Italy already this season. That’s some return.

‘It just goes to show that he has been on fire. Fair play to him. He may get 30 goals this season and that will only add more money onto his value.’
