Arsenal are set to offer Bukayo Saka a new long-term deal as they fear that Man City would consider him as a replacement to Raheem Sterling.

The England international enjoyed another reputation-enhancing season last year, solidifying his place in Gareth Southgate’s England national team and comfortably winning the Gunners Player of the Season award.

Mikel Arteta’s side remain confident that Bukayo Saka will eventually sign a new contract, however, the interest of the Citizens who, according to Sportsmail, view the forward as a ‘dream’ replacement for Raheem Sterling represents a major concern.

The Premier League giants are in the midst of a significant overhaul with Jesus and Sterling having already left the squad, while Oleksandr Zinchenko is also appears to be on his way to Arsenal.

Riyad Mahrez has signed a new three-year deal and Phil Foden is set to follow suit, however, City are positioning themselves to test the waters and are carefully monitoring Saka’s situation.

A failure to qualify for this campaigns Champions League represented a major blow to the Gunners hopes of resolving Saka’s future easily, while a slow start to the upcoming season would have a similarly negative impact.

Fabio Vieira joined from Porto in a £34million deal, while Brazilian attacker Marquinhos will hope to replicate the impact Gabriel Martinelli had with the Gunners after he joined the team.
