Arsene Wenger feels Arsenal are only ‘one or two’ signings away from challenging for the Premier League crown next season.
For the first time in 20 seasons, Arsenal have not made the Champions League after finishing up fifth in the table, one point after Liverpool who beat Middlesbrough on the final day of the campaign.
The North Londoners mounted an early title challenge, however, have ended up 18 points behind Chelsea, who were champions at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
However despite their shortfalls this campaign, Wenger insists only requires two ‘top quality’ signings to beat Chelsea and the rest of Arsenal’s title rivals next year.
“I think this group of players is good enough to come back,” claimed the Arsenal manager.
“They have learned a lot, and they have gone through difficult periods this season, and they have bounced back in a very strong way. I think that will help them, absolutely, next season.
“But first I think we have to keep 90 per cent of these players together and find one or two more who strengthen the group but we don’t need a lot. We don’t need many. But we need maybe top quality.” – He Added
