Manchester United are planning a shock move for Barcelona’s Jordi Alba, according to a fresh report by Catalan outlet El Nacional.
Blaugrana are not averse to the idea of selling the 32-year-old star, who is one of the club’s highest earners.
The Spaniard has been a mainstay at the back for his team and has gone on to amass 391 matches while registering 22 goals and 83 assists in the process.
Top-notch showings have always created speculation surrounding his future, with several European powerhouses showing an interest in the player over the years. As things stand, the Red Devils have set their sights on him.
Jordi is one of the highest earners at Camp Nou currently and at a time when the board need to continue cutting their wage bill, Barcelona view Alba as the perfect candidate to sacrifice.
In addition, with Jose Gaya a key target for them, the La Liga outfit could well afford to cash in on the star.
Manchester United, though, will only land Alba on a cut-price fee with Ronald Koeman’s side who wish to recoup a sizable fee from his sale.
What now remains to be seen is if the Old Trafford side do make their move for the experienced defender or if he stays put at Barcelona instead.
