La Liga giants Barcelona could reportedly move for world-class centre-forward Edinson Cavani in the coming weeks.
The 33-year-old will set to become a free agent when his current contract with PSG ends this month and there has been a host of speculation surrounding his future, Premier Leauge giants Chelsea thought to be keen on to lure him at Stamford Bridge, however, after signing Timo Werner from RB Leipzig interest has been cooled.
Chelsea had been credited with an interest in the Uruguay international and still consider him as a back-up option to Werner, PSG’s all-time leading goalscorer is likely to be open to making a switch to Premier League or La Liga.
According to Sport, Uruguay international forward has emerged as a shock option for the Catalan club, with the Spanish champions determined to secure the services of a new attacker ahead of the 2020-21 season.
The report suggests that the Catalan giants have lined up the former Napoli star as an alternative to Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez as it stays to be seen whether the Spanish giants can afford the Argentine, who has a €111m (£100.5m) release clause in his current deal with the club.
Cavani will depart from PSG after scoring 200 goals in 301 games for the French giants.
