Barcelona head-coach Ronald Koeman has confirmed that he is still interested in securing the services of Memphis Depay and Georginio Wijnaldum.
The Spanish heavyweights were heavily linked with moves for the Liverpool playmaker and Lyon attacker during the summer transfer window, however, ultimately could not offload enough players to be able to afford either.
Koeman worked alongside both Memphis Depay and Wijnaldum during his time as Netherlands boss, and he has confirmed that he wants at least one of them to join Frenkie de Jong as a fellow Dutchman at Camp Nou.
“Hopefully, we will have a second Dutchman in the squad. Georginio Wijnaldum was on my list [too],” Koeman told NOS.
Wijnaldum and Memphis have both entered the final year of their deal at their respective team and, as things stand, would be available to join the Catalan giants on a free transfer in the summer.
However, Memphis has already dropped a hint that he could depart Lyon before that if the Spanish giants revive their interest in January when the transfer window will be re-opened.
Ivan Rakitic, Arturo Vidal and Luiz Suarez all have left Barcelona while Koeman’s side only secured the services of Dest from Ajax.
