Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are set to rival Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United in the hunt to sign central defender Dayot Upamecano from RB Leipzig, according to a report.
According to a German weekly sports magazine Sport Bild’s Christian Falk, Frenchman is the latest name that Bayern Munich’s management have added to their wishlist of transfer targets.
The German heavyweights are preparing to overhaul their ageing roster and Upamecano is a player that they believe can make better their defence.
Manchester United have also been connected with a move to sign the Frenchman in the latest weeks, but any deal to sign the 20-year-old centre-half is unlikely to come cheap.
Dayot has been one of the more stunning defenders in the Bundesliga this campaign and Bayern Munich clearly like what they see.
Adding some younger talent to their ranks has been their mission in the latest months, with Niko Kovac’s side struggling to compete against Borussia Dortmund this season.
With important players set to leave and a host of fresh legs arriving, Bayern Munich are facing a crucial summer transfer market.
