Champions League winning playmaker emerged as shock transfer target for Liverpool

March 14, 2018

Liverpool have reportedly identified Croatia national team and Real Madrid playmaker as their top transfer target this summer.

Real Madrid are expected to undergo a substantial overhaul of their squad after the end of the current campaign after being left out 15 points behind by their arch-rivals Barcelona in the La Liga table and hosts of key players expected to leave the Santiago Bernabeu.

One player who could become a victim of Florentino Perez’s reorganization plan is Luka Modric, and Diario Gol reported that Liverpool alongside with Arsenal are interested in securing the services of Croatian playmaker.

Liverpool are among the clubs interested to sign a world-class playmaker to replace Emre Can.

However, the report goes on to state that Modric would love to make a return to London.

Modric’s ties with ex-club Tottenham Hotspur would not be enough to prevent him making him switch to Arsenal.

The Merseyside Reds have already secured the services of RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita this summer, while Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum, Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain, Adam Lallana and James Milner provide further options in the middle of the park.
