Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso is reportedly set to make the transfer to La Liga giants, Barcelona after bidding farewell to the Blues staff.

The 31-year-old defender has been a rumoured target for the Catalan giants this summer alongside his Blues teammate Cesar Azpilicueta.

While Azpilicueta is believed to stay at Stamford Bridge after signing a new two-year deal, the addition of Marc Cucurella from Brighton & Hove Albion has opened the door for Marcos Alonso’s exit.

According to the Daily Mail, Spanish full-back has already said his goodbyes to the staff at Chelsea’s Cobham training complex ahead of the switch to Barcelona, which could be finalised this weekend.

The Spaniard – who has already agreed on personal terms with the Barcelona – is believed to secure services of a two-year deal at Camp Nou.

Although the transfer for Marcos Alonso is imminent, the Catalan giants may have to sell players before they can register the left-back after La Liga recently turned down their attempts to register their summer signings.

The Catalans have signed, Frank Kessie, Robert Lewandowski, Julues Kundle and Raphina ahead of the 2022/23 season, however, they have yet to register them.
