Chelsea 27-year-old star set to force Stamford Bridge exit this month

Chelsea shot-stopper Kepa Arrizabalaga is allegedly planning to depart Stamford Bridge this summer’s transfer window.

The Londoners broke the world-record transfer sum for a goalkeeper when they purchased the Spain international from the La Liga outfit, Athletic Bilbao, for £71.6 million in the summer of 2018.

He has made 124 outings for the capital outfit since his arrival but has largely failed to show his best form and dropped to No2 at the club when the Senegalese star Edouard Mendy made the switch from Rennes in 2020.

This term, the 27-year-old star has been limited to just four Premier League matches, although he has featured 15 times in all competitions, with the bulk of his appearances (six) coming in the EFL Cup.

Arrizabalaga still has in excess of three years left to run on his deal at the club, but there has been plenty of speculation surrounding his long-term future ahead of the summer window.

Juventus have been strongly linked with the player, and a recent report stated that the Old Lady were interested in exploring the possibility of taking Kepa on loan for the 2022-23 season.

Lazio and Newcastle United have also been touted with an interest in the former Los Leones youngster, with the latter thought to be willing to take on his large salary because of their new wealth.

According to journalist Ekrem Konur, he’s planning to quit Chelsea during this summer’s transfer market in search of regular minutes, with a spot in his country’s squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in his mind.
