Chelsea full-back Emerson Palmieri says a return to Serie A ‘could happen’ and is full of praise for his ex-head-coach Maurizio Sarri and Antonio Conte, however, insists he is in no rush to depart from Chelsea.
The 25-year-old full-back has been in-and-out of the West London club since he arrived at Stamford Bridge from Serie A giants AS Roma back in January 2018, under, Sarri, Conte and now Frank Lampard.
The Italy international has performed well at times, however, struggled to hold onto a regular place in the starting XI, starting just 13 games in the English top-tier this campaign and none since 21 January.
Lampard has been strongly linked with signing a new left-back, with the likes of Nicolas Tagliafico, Alex Telles and Ben Chilwell all potential targets ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.
Emerson was born in Brazil and has started his career at local team Santos before making a move to Italy back in 2014 and going on to represent his adopted country seven times.
While he is considering a return back to Serie A he has praised current head-coach Frank Lampard and feels he will make huge strides in management.
‘Frank Lampard is young, he was a player until recently, so he knows how to talk to the players. He was an idol at Chelsea and I’m sure he’ll get even better as a coach. He’s got a great heart.’
