Chelsea are reportedly now the frontrunners to secure the services of Sevilla defender Jules Kounde this summer.
The 22-year-old centre-back has excelled for his La Liga giants during the 2020-21 season, playing 49 games in all competitions, founding back of the net four times and providing one assist in the process.
A number of teams, including Man Utd and PSG, have been credited with an interest in the centre-back, who is currently with the France national team at the European Championship.
However, according to ABC Sevilla, the Blues have moved ahead of the Red Devils in the race, with the West London club now the clear frontrunners for his services during this summer’s transfer window.
The report suggests that interested teams will have to pay upwards of €65m (£55.9m) to secure the services of the Frenchman, who was believed to be the subject of an offer from Man City last summer.
Both Man Utd and Chelsea are believed to be in the market for new defenders in the current market, with Real Madrid’s centre-back Raphael Varane also believed to be a transfer target for the Premier League pair.
