Chelsea and Arsenal continue chase for 24-year-old forward valued at £36m

Arsenal have reportedly joined their London rivals, Chelsea, in showing an interest in Brentford attacker Said Benrahma.

The Algeria international has took part in 17 goals and assists in the Championship this campaign, leading to talk that he could be on his way to the Premier League.

The Blues are believed to be leading the way for Benrahma’s services, having supposedly already opened initial talks with his agent.

However, reports in Italy claims that Arsenal are also now in the mix to secure the services of the 24-year-old, forward who is valued in the region of £36m by Brentford.

Benrahma, also previously rumoured with a switch to Aston Villa and West Ham United, is under contract with the Bees until 2022.

Chelsea and Arsenal also considering a summer move for another forward Dries Mertens, Belgian attacker has been tipped with a  departure from the Stadio Sao Paolo and Premier League thought to be his favoured destination.

Meanwhile, La Liga giants Real Madrid forward Lucas Vazquez could reportedly yet stay at Santiago Bernabeu this summer despite rumours linking him with a switch to Chelsea and Arsenal.

The 28-year-old has struggled for regular first-team football during the 2019-20 season, starting just six games in the Spanish top-tier and contributing just three goals for Zinedine Zidane’s side.

The Blues have recently been credited with a strong interest in the Spaniard amid rumoured that Los Blancos have made him available for transfer ahead of the 2020-21 season.
