Arsenal and Chelsea are reportedly considering to hijack Eric Garcia’s proposed move to La Liga giants Barcelona after the Catalans changed the terms of their agreement.
Manchester City head-coach Pep Guardiola had previously confirmed that Spanish centre-back would join Barcelona this summer, and the 20-year-old is believed to have verbally agreed a five-year deal with Ronald Koeman’s side.
However, the cash-strapped Blaugrana supposedly now want Garcia to lower his salary demands given their volatile financial situation, and the rest of his wages will be paid in performance-related bonuses.
As a result, the Daily Star claims that Chelsea and Arsenal could attempt to lure Garcia to the English capital instead, as the two teams would have no problem beating the Catalan giants salary offer.
The report claims that Garcia – who has turned down the chance to earn more money at the Citizens – remains undecided on his next destination, however, Barcelona are demanding an answer by the end of the month.
The La Masia graduate has only made 10 games across all competitions during a frustrating 2020-21 season, including a mere two starts in the English top-tier for Guardiola’s title-chasers.
