However, according to Mundo Deportivo, the Gunners have now joined the hunt for the 21-year-old centre-back, having been impressed by his progress over the last two campaigns.

Hakimi’s agent recently denied suggestions that his agent had signed a new contract with La Liga giants, Real Madrid, although the defenders current deal at the Bernabeu does still run until the summer of 2022.

Zinedine Zidane’s side are believed to be fearful that Hakimi could decide to depart from the club ahead of next campaign as his path into the starting XI is currently blocked by experienced Spain international full-back Dani Carvajal.
