Chelsea are reportedly preparing to go head to head with Manchester United for the services of Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane in the summer.
The 27-year-old’s current deal with Los Blancos is set to expire next June, and Zinedine Zidane’s side are believed to be open to selling the Frenchman in the upcoming market to raise transfer funds rather risking to lose him for free next season.
The Red Devils are believed to be leading the race for the France international, who has managed to found back of the net twice in 36 games at club level during the 2020-21 season.
However, according to Bild journalist Christian Falk, the 20-times English champions are likely to face intense competition from their Premier League rivals Chelsea during this summer’s transfer window.
Falk claims that West London club, head-coach Thomas Tuchel is an admirer of the World Cup winner and will explore the possibility of bringing him to Stamford Bridge at the end of the current campaign.
Raphael Varane has played 355 games for Real Madrid since arriving from Lens back in 2011.
Chelsea and Man Utd also eyeing move for Real Madrid out-of-favour midfielder Isco who has been failed to cement place in Zinedine Zidane’s starting XI.
