Chelsea are reportedly ‘busy’ working to try and tempt RB Leipzig star Dayot Upamecano to the club in the summer.
That’s according to Kicker, who say the Blues’ interest has come courtesy of new head coach Thomas Tuchel.
Upamecano is widely expected to quit RB Leipzig this summer, having established himself as one of the best central defenders in Europe during his time with Die Roten Bullen.
He has an exit clause worth around €40 million that will activate in the summer transfer market, a fact that the top clubs in Europe are more than aware of.
Multiple have already been linked with a swoop, with Bayern Munich thought to be leading the hunt as they try and find a successor for David Alaba.
There is apparently interest in England too, though, with Die Roten CEO Karl Heinz Rummenigge recently stating that the Blues and Liverpool are also keen.
The German outlet back that up somewhat, at least in terms of Chelsea, stating the club are ‘still busy in the market’ when it comes to Dayot.
The west Londoners are still trying to lure the highly-rated player to Stamford Bridge and beat the reigning Bundesliga champions to his signature.
Bayern Munich, for their part, are believed to have ‘good prospects’ of signing the French ace, which is presumably why Thomas Tuchel’s side are still having to put some legwork in.
Either way, at this moment in time it seems to be very much a two-way battle between the two sides but Hansi Flick’s side are slightly ahead.
