Chelsea and Manchester United have both checked up on the Senegal star Kalidou Koulibaly’s situation at Napoli, it has been reported in Italy.
Napoli are willing to let Koulibaly move on this transfer window for the right price and Manchester City are registering interest in taking him to England.
However, the Citizens haven’t yet reached an agreement with the Italian giants, in spite of having an understanding on personal terms.
Other sides are keeping an eye on the situation and, according to Naples-based journalist Giovanni Scotto, the Blues and the Red Devils have enquired about the defender’s situation.
Napoli are claimed to still value Kalidou at the €80 million mark, which may be a bridge too far for both Premier League outfits.
Owner Aurelio De Laurentiis has proven to be a tough negotiator in the transfer window and firmly holds the future of the player in his hands.
Koulibaly, who maintains a good relationship with I Partenopei, is not willing to go on the war path to force through a move.
Meantime, Sheffield United have purchased Chelsea defender Ethan Ampadu on a season-long loan.
The 19-year-old Welshman, who can play in a number of defensive and midfield roles, follows Derby County pair Jayden Bogle and Max Lowe, who also sealed the move to Bramall Lane on Monday.
The defender has returned from a six-month loan spell at RB Leipzig and will temporarily leave the club again in the hunt for more first-team experience.
