According to the latest transfer news, Premier League duo Liverpool and Chelsea are preparing a move to sign Napoli defensive star Faouzi Ghoulam when the January transfer window reopens.
The 26-year-old Algeria international has made 146 appearances for Napoli since joining the club from Ligue 1 outfit Saint-Etienne back in 2014 but the speedy left-back is being strongly linked with a Premier League switch in the new year.
It is believed that Ghoulam’s negotiations over a new contract deal have stalled which has put Chelsea, Manchester City, Atletico Madrid and Serie A champions Juventus on red alert.
The reports from Daily Express claim that Liverpool are also poised to launch a bid for the Algerian star, with the Merseyside giants on the hunt for defensive reinforcements.
Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp missed out on Southampton centre-back Virgil van Dijk in the summer transfer window and the Reds have already conceded 12 goals in the English top flight.
Faouzi Ghoulam is out of contract at Napoli next summer so the Serie A giants may be tempted to cash-in on the left-back before he is able to leave the club for free.
