Chelsea determined to agree deal for PL centre-back valued at £50m

Chelsea are reportedly prepared to rival Arsenal in the race to secure the services of Brighton & Hove Albion centre-back Ben White.

The North London giants are allegedly hopeful of finalising a £50m deal for the versatile English defender at the end of Euro 2020.

However, according to transfer expert Duncan Castles, the Blues have made contact with the agents of a 23-year-old defender to register an interest.

Speaking to the Transfer Window Podcast, Castles said: “I now understand that Chelsea have notified the player of their interest in signing him. I think that’s significant competition for Arsenal.

“Chelsea can offer Champions League football, can offer a club based in London in the same way that Arsenal can, but one that should be immediately competitive for the Premier League title.”

White can play at right-back or at the centre-back and central midfield, positions that Thomas Tuchel is keen to strengthen before the start of the new campaign.

Arsenal and Chelsea also keen on agreeing on a deal for another Brighton star, Yves Bissouma who has been rumoured with a departure from Falmer Stadium ahead of the 2021/22 season.
