Chelsea eyeing move for 24-year-old Ligue 1 forward valued at £17m

Chelsea have reportedly planning to make a £17m bid for Ligue 1 Metz forward Habib Diallo.

The West London club, having had their transfer suspension lifted, are able to enter the transfer market when the January window opens and continue to be rumoured with several players in the offensive end.

Tammy Abraham has impressed for the West London club on his return from Aston Villa. However, Michy Batshuayi and Olivier Giroud have struggled for regular action and could be on their way this winter.

According to Le Republicain Lorrain, the Blues have made an offer of £17m for 24-year-old forward, who is also thought to be attracting the attention of Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City.

The Metz forward has found back of the net 10 times in 19 Ligue 1 games for his French team this campaign, while he managed 26 in the second tier of French football during the 2019-20 season.

Diallo will see his current contract with Les Grenats expire in the summer of 2022.

Giroud is likely to depart from Stamford Bridge during the January transfer window in order to play for Didier Deschamps France national team at European Championship of 2020 and signing Diallo could help Lampard to compete for top-four finish this seaosn.
