The West London giants have Reece James as first choice on the right of their backline, while Cesar Azpilicueta has remained at the club despite rumours with Barcelona, so they are not desperate for a right-back, however, would like cover.

The Red Devils are playing Diogo Dalot at right-back, while Aaron Wan-Bissaka is likely to make a return to Crystal Palace.

Responding to reported interest from the La Liga giants, the defender told RTL: ‘I hope there was something in the stories, but honestly I didn’t even ask our manager or anything about it. I didn’t care.

‘I have to keep my feet firmly on the ground. It was Atletico Madrid after all, but I’m at a big club already, Celtic.

‘Finally I have the chance to play in the Champions League here. Just to hear the atmosphere, that anthem and to get to play on that stage.’
