Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has reportedly emerged as a surprise transfer target for Chelsea.
The West London club are seemingly determined to secure the services of a new forward during this summer’s transfer window and continue to be rumoured with a big-money move for Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Braut Haaland.
Thomas Tuchel’s team could ultimately be priced out of a contract for Haaland, though, and according to Sport1, the Premier League giants have put together a list of possible alternatives.
The report suggests that Lewandowski has been identified as a target, with the Poland international thought to be open to the idea of a move ahead of the next campaign.
The 32-year-old forward has enjoyed another standout 2020-21 season for his German team, scoring 48 goals in 40 games in all competitions, including 41 in 29 Bundesliga appearences.
Lewandowski has now scored 294 times in 329 appearances for Bayern but only has two years left to run on his contract at the Allianz Arena.
The forward has also scored once in two appearances for his country at Euro 2020.
Timo Werner has failed to fulfil the expectations since his arrival from RB Leipzig and adding another top-class forward could be a priority this summer.
