Watford and Aston Villa are reportedly hopeful of signing Chelsea skipper Gary Cahill fro free next season.
Former England international star is currently in the final year of his current deal at Stamford Bridge and has fallen down the pecking order under new head-coach Maurizio Sarri, failing to make a single appearance for the team so far this campaign.
The 32-year-old is widely expected to end a seven-year stay with the Blues when his deal does expire, and French outlet La Gazette des Transferts claims that the Villians and the Hornets are among the clubs eager to secure his services.
Cahill came through the ranks at Aston Villa, joining the teams as a youth player back in 2000.
Villa signed previous the Blues skipper John Terry for free at the end of the 2016-17 season, and head coach Steve Bruce is open to the idea to lure another Chelsea captain.
However, the Championship outfit could face competition from the Hornets, who are believed to view Cahill as an ideal replacement for Britos and Kaboul, both of whom are also out of deal next summer.
The report also suggested that European clubs such as Bordeaux, Marseille, and Sevilla are monitoring Cahill’s situation.
