Olivier Giroud is believed to want to remain at Chelsea and fight for first-team spot despite interest from Serie A champions, Juventus.
Giroud has scored his 40th goal for France in Les Bleus’ 4-2 win over Croatia on Tuesday in warming up for the start of the new season in the English top-tier.
The Blues have launched a major squad overhaul in the summer, spending out more than £200million on a string of high-profile recruits, not least Germany centre-forwardTimo Werner.
However, Giroud remains determined to continue his Stamford Bridge career, until he becomes a free agent.
Giroud has managed to found back of the net seven times in 12 appearances in all competitions to close last campaign in style, after football’s resumption following his coronavirus lockdown.
Werner’s £53million arrival from Bundesliga outfits RB Leipzig adds further competition alongside England forward Tammy Abraham.
But the 33-year-old Giroud played a vital role for the Blues to finish season in the top-four last campaign and FA Cup success.
The West London club have allowed Belgian forward Michy Batshuayi to take up a year-long loan at Crystal Palace, the Belgium forward returning to the Eagles for a second stint.
Giroud had options to depart from Chelsea in January, however, both the France forward and the club hierarchy eventually opted to keep him in west London.
Serie A giants Juventus are believed to be interested in luring French forward away from Stamford Bridge, however, Giroud’s agents have not had any deal with the Turin outfit.
Chelsea will launched their new Premier League season with a 3-1 victory against Brighton.
