Chelsea handed double injury boost ahead of Brentford clash

Chelsea have been given a timely boost ahead of their PL clash with Brentford, with both N’Golo Kante and Reece James pictured in full training.

The Englishman had to withdraw from his country’s squad for the FIFA World Cup qualifying matches because of an ankle injury he sustained in the Blues’ defeat to Manchester City last month.

Fellow Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell replaced Reece in Gareth Southgate’s party and went on to net the opening goal in the Three Lions’ FIFA World Cup qualifying win over Andorra.

Kante, meantime, was forced to observe a period of mandatory isolation after testing positive for coronavirus and therefore missed out as his nation beat Spain to win the UEFA Nations League.

The versatile midfielder worked on his fitness away from the rest of the team at the club’s training base the previous week but was put through his paces along with Reece and the main group.

manager Thomas Tuchel will no doubt hope both stars are fully fit and available to feature in Saturday’s highly-anticipated match at the Brentford Community Stadium.

The likes of Hakim Ziyech, Saul, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Ross Barkley also took part in drills at the training centre.
