Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has revealed that forward Christian Pulisic has suffered a setback in his attempt to return from an ankle injury.

Pulisic hasn’t represented the Blues since the opening day of the campaign, the 23-year-old United States star’s most recent problem a result of a heavy challenge while on international duty with his country.

While the attacker was said to be closing in on an appearance in the senior team squad, Thomas revealed that he’d remain unavailable for the foreseeable future.

Speaking to journalists, Tuchel said: “He got injured in the match with the USA with a tough foul, hurt his ankle. There is nothing to worry in that we are hiding details. I cannot give you them because I am not a doctor.

“He has some setbacks, some pain in his ankle that disturbs him. With his quick movements, he feels it and isn’t free in the movement, the recovery is not happening.”

Elsewhere, Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley has allegedly become open to the idea of a transfer to Burnley in the January transfer market.

The Clarets caught eyes the previous week by reportedly declaring their interest in the player.

And now according to Ekrem Konur, the English midfielder is considering a switch to Turf Moor in January after struggling for senior team opportunities in West London.
