Chelsea handed massive blow in their pursuit for South American star

Serie A champions Juventus defender Alex Sandro has signed a new four-and-a-half year deal despite strong interest from Premier League giants MAn Utd and Chelsea.

The 27-year-old defender has played 134 games for Juventus since joining them from Porto back in 2015, winning the Serie A title in each of his three seasons at the Allianz Stadium.

Brazilian stars performances have seen him earn plaudits as one of the best full-backs in Europe.

The 27-year-old star was strongly linked with a move to either Chelsea or Manchester United over the summer.

However, Sandro has extended his stay with Serie A champions Juventus until the summer June 2023.

According to reports in Italy, the 27-year-old is now the 10th highest-paid player in Serie A.

In total, Sandro has won three Serie A titles and three Copa Italia trophies with Maximiliano Allegri’s side, and he will be hoping to add the Champions League to his list of honours after the end of the current season.

The 13-time Brazil international is believed ot be “very happy” to remain with Juventus in an Instagram post.

“I thank all the people who helped me arrive where I am today,” he wrote, as translated by Football Italia.

“I am very happy to continue being part of the Juventus family.”
