Barcelona and Chelsea long-term target Sergi Roberto remain “far away” from reaching an agreement over a new contract, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The Spanish international forward has been strongly linked with an exit from Nou Camp with Chelse a, Juventus and Manchester United are in the hunt for his signature.
The versatile midfielder has decided to remain at the Camp Nou despite strong interest from European giants in the summer.
Roberto’s current deal set to expires in 2019, and he has a €40million release clause that Barcelona are trying to increase by forcing Spaniard to sign a new contract. Negotiations are however proving more difficult than anticipated with an agreement yet to be reached between two parties.
Roberto is reportedly unhappy with the basic wage currently being offered by the Spanish giants, although both sides are ready to reach an agreement. The longer that negotiations go on for though, the midfielder’s departure seems likely with Spaniard is also keen on to secure regular first-team football following the Summers FIFA World-Cup 2018 tournament.
