Chelsea have identified Celta Vigo star Stanislav Lobotka as an alternative signing to Zenit St Petersburg midfielder Leandro Paredes.
It is claimed that the Blues have made the Argentina international their primary midfield target this month, but other options are being considered.
Maurizio Sarri’s team have been heavily linked with a move to sign Leandro Paredes in the January transfer window as the Italian manager bids to bolster the options at his disposal in the middle of the park.
However, if Chelsea fail to tie up a deal for the former Roma star, it is claimed that they have lined up a move for Celta Vigo star as a contingency plan.
It was suggested this week that the FA Cup holders had agreed personal terms with the South American transfer target as they continued to make progress with their intentions of bringing the midfielder to west London.
Nevertheless, a backup plan is understood to have been selected and the La Liga midfielder has emerged as a target.
Chelsea’s Premier League rivals Leicester City and Bournemouth, are also understood to be interested in signing a talented Argentine ace.
