Former Bundesliga star Jan Aage Fjortoft has stated that Chelsea view the German tactician Thomas Tuchel as the best man to bring in if the club have to replace Frank Lampard in the middle of the campaign.
The questions over the under-fire Englishman’s future intensified this week after Chelsea lost 2-0 at Leicester City and continued their horror run of form in the latest weeks.
The Blues have won just two of their last eight Premier League matches and have dropped down to eighth in the league standings with all the early campaign positivity disappearing in the matter of a month.
Chelsea are believed to be looking around for a possible new manager and former Paris Saint-Germain chief Tuchel has been strongly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge
Fjortoft insisted that the west Londoners haven’t made any definitive call on whether to sack Frank, but claimed that negotiations have taken place between agents and the Blues, and they view Thomas as the man who is best placed to come in to replace Lampard in the middle of the season.
The former attacker took to Twitter and wrote: “Agents and Chelsea – representatives have been talking about bringing Tuchel in.
“I understand no decision has been made in terms of Lampard yet, but if he goes Tuchel is seen as the best replacement In the middle of the season.
The struggling English giants have reportedly prepared a four-man wishlist of managers who could be brought in to replace club legend.
