Chelsea are reportedly battling Tottenham Hotspur for Northern Ireland teen starlet Charlie Allen.
The 15-year-old Linfield playmaker has already held talks with the Lilywhites after spending a trial period at the North London outfit.
Now Football Insider states Frank Lampard’s side “have ambushed attempts” from their rivals to land the teen.
Their report states the Blues have asked Linfield for permission to take the sensation on trial.
The Stamford Bridge giants’ coaching staff want to take a closer look at the ace as they consider a swoop.
But both of the capital’s elite clubs also face serious competition from Manchester City.
He has also spent time training with the PL champions and he has plenty of options to consider ahead of a transfer to England.
Spurs looked to be at the front of the queue for him but now face a huge fight for his services. He became Linfield’s youngest-ever debutant in their final match of last season.
Charlie turns 16 next month and has been hailed by the Northern Irish side’s academy boss Glenn Ferguson as “one of the brightest prospects” he has seen.
Linfield are resigned to losing Charlie but will be looking to sell their prized asset.
Meantime, Chelsea have placed a £22 million transfer value on Michy Batshuayi amid talks that Crystal Palace want to sign the forward in the January transfer window, according to a daily tabloid newspaper The Express.
